Cercopithecus lomamiensis, commonly known to hunters in the area where it was discovered in the DR Congo’s Lomami forest basin as Lesula. The animal is only the second new monkey species identified in 28 years. The blue perineum, buttocks and scrotum displayed by adult males are more extensive than genital patches in any other Cercopithecus (monkey’s butt not depicted for the sake of modesty).
